downgrade to silver

I can't claim the gold medal. Why? Because gauge swatches lie. They are such liars. You knit one, wash & block it and what does it tell you? Lies - all lies.

So now that my Helleborus Yoke is dry, it's too small. The sweater was designed to have positive ease. I knit the size that would give me zero ease (because the next size up would be too big) and now I have negative ease. ARGH!

Ricky sez, "If you're not wearing that sweater, can I sleep on it?"

Reminder: Contest ends tomorrow at midnight. Go here to enter. There are 3 correct answers (one of them isn't specific enough but I'll give her points for trying ;) so your chances are very good at winning.

Contest closed.

I'm sorry it shrank. :(

I feel your pain. I posted photos of my last project which is TOO small as well. It actually puts me into a kntiting funk when that happens. Makes me not want to create anything!

Oh no!!! Can you block it larger and pin it so it dries that size?

I'm so sorry to hear about the sweater. I think that this is one of the main reasons why I've never knitted a sweater for an adult. I worry that I'll spend the money and the time and then only get a "learning experience" out of it. I've got quite enough of those already :-)

Sparkee Spud - thanks for the condolences. The sweater didn't actually shrink. It didn't block out big enough. Like I said, the swatch lied.

ColorSlut - Misery loves company. I am sorry to hear about your sweater.

Jean Ashley - I've actually had pretty good luck knitting sweaters. Just bad luck this time :(

Holey Schmoley!! That's awful!!! It's so gorgeous! And it looks so good on you in the pictures. I say we execute the swatch at dawn.

Points for trying is a silver medal!! Sorry about the sweater. That sucks actually. Do you have more yarn? You could always knit the size up now that you know it shrinks. Of course if you knit the size up then it would grow of course...
